FLAK APPAREL
web, graphic, branding and apparel
The online presence of the small start-up clothing brand Flak Apparel required an attractive and simple website that would cater to Flak's particular demographic in an original way.

The website has been very successful in what it was meant to do. Mediasoldier is also responsible for an ongoing brand development project with Flak Apparel.

Mediasoldier Illustrations A few illustrations done in the name of Mediasoldier. Late 2008.

Flak Apparel Website for new clothing brand Flak Apparel.

This is the website I created for my clothing brand Flak Apparel. Simplistic, to the point, with a nifty carousel installed to display content on the top.

Mediasoldier V3 The third version of my portfolio site.

In my third revamp of Mediasoldier I chose to try something different. While maintaining the one-page-shows-all style of my previous version, I wanted to try something new. I chose to do a horizontal display, which I had seen done very well on a few different sites at the time. I think I achieved it well, but feedback was mixed. This is not something done too often on the internet, and if you want people to like it, it has to be done extraordinarily well.

Suffice to say, as much as I liked this layout in the start, it didn't grow on me like my others, and I grew bored of it after a few short months. This layout served me from October 2008 until January 2009.

Age of Decadence Iron Tower Studios came to Mediasoldier to create the promo website for their new videogame Age of Decadence.

Mediasoldier was approached by Iron Tower Studios to create the promotional site for the soon-to-be released online multiplayer game Age of Decadence. The site was meant to put emphasis on the concept art, whilst giving the user with a good feel of what the site is about. Heavy use of textures and colours related to their game's time period resulted in a very nice user experience.

Although many changes have occured to the site since it's original design was implemented, I am still very proud of this design and am happy to see a lot of my original design in use.

Mediasoldier V2 The second version of my portfolio site.

The second version of Mediasoldier stayed true to my previous in a few different ways. I maintained a horizontal layout and heavy reliance on texture to create interest. I did however shed myself of the banner and opt for a one-page-shows-all layout to eliminate navigation and emphasise my work and services.

The inspiration for the colors came from a costume on one of the characters in Aeon Flux, which had just been released in theatres. I was very happy with this layout and it served me well for years.

ClanTemplates Mediasoldier created the design for the hugely popular free template site Clantemplates.

At the beginning of my web design career I spent a whole lot of time on these forums. After a while I applied to be staff to create free (yes, free) layouts to be used by clans all around the world. I only ever did release two layouts, but I did however design their website, which has been in use for about the last 3 to 4 years. Clantemplates sees nearly ten thousand hits per day and at virtually any given time there are over one-thousand users online. Definitely my most-seen work to date.

Mediasoldier V1 The very first version of Mediasoldier.

This was the first version of Mediasoldier. Completed in early 2004 and used right through to the end of 2005. I reckon you could even go so far as to say this was done when iframes were 'hip'.

Keep in mind, this was one of my very first websites, and I took full advantage of tables. I'm sure the markup was horrible, but hell, it got the job done. Of course, nowadays that just wouldn't cut it. It's awesome to see how far I've come, but I suppose I keep this up here because even now, I am proud of that layout. Attractive, clean and good looking. Oh, and I would have been thirteen years old. Haha.
My name is Trevor Henry. I'm currently a student in the Digital Media Arts program at Seneca@York and work as a freelancer while I'm not attending classes.

For as long as I can remember I've been on the computer. I recieved my first client when I was thirteen; a brassware company near Birmingham, England. Though the pay was pretty tiny, as thirteen-year-old I thought I'd hit the jackpot. After that, I started taking this field more seriously, starting out my own website and marketing myself as a webdesigner.

Six years later, I've designed webpages that are viewed over ten thousand times daily, gone through countless iterations of my own site, worked for dozens of clients, taken up photography and started a clothing brand.
I enjoy design, drawing, photography and pretty much anything that involves me creating something. I spend numerous hours each and every day browsing design and inspiration blogs and award sites, surfing the forums, looking over work on Behance and viewing as much good photography as possible on Flickr. I know what is "in", so to speak, and I love bringing the knowledge and design sense I have learned over the years into each and every project.

I also run the Mediasoldier blog, an inspiration and knowledge resource.
